Iran, Sweden Enjoy Great Potential for Cooperation: Khatami
The president made the remark in a meeting with the new Swedish Ambassador to Tehran Christofer Gyllentierna.
Turning to the new phase in Iran-EU ties, Khatami touched on the good talks held between Iran and a number of European countries on nuclear issues.
"We should be concerned about the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction," said the president stressing that the plague should be dealt with fairly and away from dual approaches.
The president, however, stressed that the rights of all countries and nations to get access to peaceful use of nuclear technology should be respected.
The Swedish ambassador said Tehran-Stockholm relations are currently far beyond official, cultural and economic ties and voiced his country’s resolve to consolidate bilateral relations and cooperation. Gyllentierna added that Sweden supports the measures adopted by the three major European states (Germany, France and Britain) on Iran’s nuclear issues and said his country always calls for scaling off of weapons of mass destruction but understands the needs of countries for access to peaceful nuclear technology."
